A good routine includes cleansing your skin twice daily, morning and evening. Choose a cleanser that rids your pores of oil and debris, eliminating dirt and pollutants that are harmful to the skin, without over drying. Make certain you use a cleanser made for your skin type, over doing it can strip away the natural beauty of your skin. If you are unsure what skin type you are, we recommend starting with a cleanser a little more gentle than you think you may need, then work your way up.
Our skin turns over about once every month, but many of those dead skin cells combined with oil can be lodged on our skin. For a more radiant and glowing complexion, try a weekly deep exfoliant. We recommend either the ZO® Exfoliating Scrub for a physical scrub or Glycolic Acid 20% wipes once to twice weekly. The results are notable! Keep your skin type in mind when choosing exfoliants, as over irritating your skin can leave it dull and lusterless.
This is the greatest simple investment into your skin's long term health. Many of us just use sun protection when we're out on a sunny day, but studies have shown we receive harmful cumulative ultraviolet radiation damage all year long, even at this northern latitude. So this year, commit to using a mineral based SPF every day of the year, even in the winter months. Your skin will reap the rewards as you age. We recommend an anti-oxidant rich blend with our mineral based, moisturizing sunscreens that won't plug pores, irritate your skin, or have a residue after application. For on the go use or oily skin types, colorescience® Powder is convenient and highly effective. If avoiding damaged looking skin isn't enough, studies have shown a 50% reduction in facial skin cancers in people who use an SPF as part of their daily routine.
After you wash and cleanse away the oil and debris, your skin will be needing a balanced moisturizer to hydrate and protect. Selecting the right moisturizer can make your skin glow. We recommend a heavier cream for night and one mixed with an SPF and anti-oxidants for the morning. Hydrating properly can give the skin instant benefits, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Serums are great ways to compliment your skin care regimens without the added heft of too many products. They allow custom care selection for your specific skin needs. No matter your age, it's never too early - or too late - to start an anti-aging skin care routine. PROTECT, PREVENT and REPAIR are the key ingredients to an effective regimen.
